From a very young age, my school friends would come to me asking for advice. For some reason, they felt comfortable enough to divulge their deepest fears and concerns with me, and I would simply give comforting reasurrance and advice without judgment. Afterwards, they’d run off happy and feeling relieved about their situation.
This continued as an adult. To this day I find myself in public, just minding my own business, only to have strangers walk up to me and tell me their deepest secrets. Expressing the challenges they have with their spouse, boss, etc. One person was bold enough to admit they weren’t in love with their partner any more and looking at finding someone else – a stranger that I’d never met in my life!
And like I always do, I actively listen and show genuine compassion and non-judgment.

At the time I didn’t connect the dots that this was a gift, until later when I was 34 years old.
I had lost my high paying job in the mortgage industry during the worst implosion in history. The company I worked for and their competitors were closing down and going bankrupt across the country.
It all happened so fast. My colleagues and I were glued to this one website called implosion.com (or net, or something like that) Every day we witnessed the companies shutting down their doors one by one, including the company we worked for that eventually went bankrupt along with the hundreds across the country.
I was newly married, unemployed, and was about to lose my home to the biggest real estate crash in history. This slowly ate away at my confidence and motivation to do much. I no longer had passion for anything that I enjoyed, and I know this sounds cliche but…
I did not know what to do with my life.
I pursued different career paths only to be short lived. I would either hate them or I didn’t make enough income to pay the hefty mortgage payment I was stuck with. I applied for jobs left and right, but struggled to find employment when the recession hit everyone hard and the job market was flooded with applicants. Even Starbucks didn’t hire me!
I became lost, very depressed and out of solutions for my problem. I was a complete mess drinking a lot of wine and binge watching t.v. until late, late, very late…parts of the night. I was basically letting life pass me by. And that went on for over a year.
Then I met my first life coach.
And within just 5 short months, I cleared away so much crap I was carrying that I didn’t even KNOW was holding me back from my full potential.
I healed more things with her than I did with any past therapist I’ve had. And let me tell you, I was one of those people who admits to going to therapy for yeeaaarrrsss. I had personal challenges that were never resolved until my coach supported me with the right tools and her beautiful, loving and caring presence that allowed me to dive deep and fully move past them.
Through her coaching I cleared away my self-limiting beliefs, I gained my confidence back, and for the first time I was actively being a leader in my future rather than letting the circumstances of my present and my past rule me.
I felt truly empowered for once in my life.
What also happened during this journey became pivotal to my life path. With the help of my coach, we put each career option I was considering on the table to constructively research if they were a good fit.
I realized that none of the career options were a match. So with my coach’s guidance, we took inventory of my gifts and talents and more importantly, I made a list of the things that I was passionate about, what I was good at, what (if any of those) crossed with what the world needs, and what I could get paid for doing to uncover
what I was here to do in this lifetime (my Ikigai).
That’s when she suggested coaching as a career. It fit all of the criteria I was looking for, and her encouragement gave me the belief that I would be successful at it.
Suddenly, I looked back at my life to realize that this work of helping others to overcome their challenges is the core of my being – it’s the way I show up. And it is the gift that I’ve been given in this lifetime.
Over time I began to realize that I’m very intuitive.
I have this inner knowing about situations that comes naturally – this is where my claircognizance comes in.
I can also sense what others are feeling – my clairsentience.
I also seem to know what to say and what people needed to hear in that moment, as though someone else is talking through me to provide the right message that the receiver must hear – the channeling.
It became clear that I have gifts that were meant to be used in a much bigger way.
I quickly signed up for a one year coach training and leadership program through Accomplishment Coaching in San Diego. It was the BEST decision I had ever made.
It was so transformative. Not only did I get coached on my own fears and self limiting beliefs by some of the industry’s top master coaches, but I also received the tools and structure to coach my clients through the toughest conversations.
It was a beautiful thing. I felt empowered in my own life by getting coached, and I learned the skills to be fully present to my clients in the same way in order for them to have their breakthroughs too.
After graduating in 2009 and already having over 100 coaching hours under my belt just in the first year of opening my practice, I haven’t looked back since.
I truly believe it is possible to find the solutions to life’s biggest challenges. We just need to be open to seeing they exist.
